10th International Symposium of the AAvPA Next Generation Safety

Invitation to Submit Abstract

The 10th International Symposium of the Australian Aviation Psychology Association (AAvPA) will be held from Monday 19 November to 22 November at the Manly Pacific Hotel, Sydney, Australia.

The theme for the 10th International Symposium is NextGen - System Safety — placing emphasis on the implications of the science of Human Factors and system safety for high-risk Industrial environments. The symposium theme considers the impact of new technologies, new philosophies, and new generations of operators and the role of human factors and psychology in creating safe and sustainable industries into the future. As in previous years, the symposium will provide a national and international forum for researchers and practitioners in a range of high-risk industries, including aviation medicine, mining, surface transport, and maritime operations to share new approaches towards the enhancement of safety.

The program will include an exciting series of plenary sessions featuring leading international experts, as well as showcasing the latest research findings and lessons from science and practice.

We now invite you to submit abstracts for the symposium program, which promises to provide a wealth of new and challenging ideas for the future of aviation safety.

Two streams of papers are proposed for the symposium:

  • First, a Lessons from Practice stream will showcase brief reports that detail the application of Human Factors and safety management activities in the field. This stream is the ideal forum to highlight innovations in practice and share the lessons learnt across all aspects of the aviation industry.
  • Second, an Applied Research stream will showcase significant findings from applied research examining the application of Human Factors and safety management science to real-world problems. The applied research stream will enable authors to submit a full paper for refereeing, in line with DEEWR requirements.
